All about

Exercise Medicine

Exercise: sport, physical activity and all active movement in our everyday life helps us to maintain and improve our health and well-being. Exercise can help us remain strong for life: from our muscles and bones to our mental health, through all life stages.

The evidence for exercise in helping people manage health conditions including heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and cancer is very strong. Exercise Medicine is informed by the research in sport and exercise science and medicine to ensure that the care we offer is the best for your health and goals, and individualised to support you.

For athletes -whether you pursue sport for personal enjoyment or also have competitive goals it's vital that injury or illness don't derail your plans

Services

What to Expect

ExerciseMedicine offers an individualised approach. Your will have an initial online consultation with an exercise medicine consultant, or an in-person appointment when preferred.

The initial consultation will explore your needs and with the doctor you might decide on first steps to diagnosis an injury or illness (such as arranging for further tests like blood tests or imaging like MRI or ultrasound or fitness level testing). In a follow-up appointment, your individualised plan will be made.

For some people with known conditions it will be possible to support your exercise prescription from the first appointment and implement a plan that can involve rehabilitation with the option of an exercise physiologist or physiotherapist to support your needs.

Services also include health assessments, which can help assess your fitness relative to overall health and provide advice to help you to be the most well version of you!
